  Each book assembled by hand.
  
  Once, I was in Portugal. I went there, filming and writing, and returned with the sound of this quartet in my mind. Something like Chris Marker's "San Soleil" with friends was what I wanted to make. Without knowing my ideas or plans for them, Guadalupe, Natalia and Fabián very kindly agreed to record and send me text, music and sound. They fit perfectly with the film I had edited (more or less chronologically, starting in Lisbon, heading south, then up to the far north of country), with my own piano, percussion and melodica mixed in. In the middle of everything, a line from one of Guadalupe's texts jumped out and became the title.
  
  This little movie would be more fun with a little book, I thought. Haiku and drawings by Lupita are the center of a small pop-up, which I think of like a four room house. My photos make the walls, with a rail acting as corridors. There is something like a typewriter. A window, an aqueduct, a tree with a single blossom - rooms which echo images from the film and haiku but are also places to daydream in themselves.
  
  Though I have before made films with one or more people in mind, this is the most collaborative. Guadalupe, Natalia and Fabian are the most wonderful travel companions one could have.
